Hello, My name is Umran Gulbin Aydin. I am an independent Mathematics teacher with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics. I work as the Maths tutor for a partner institution of The National Tutoring Programme funded by The Department for Education.  Academic Background I am holding German Abitur (corresponds to A-levels in UK) as I was graduated from Istanbul (Erkek) Lisesi which is a high school in Turkey under German administration and provides education in European Standards. I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Bogazici University and my Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Galatasaray University. Both universities are in Istanbul and have very good reputations in Turkey. Both of my undergraduate and master programmes are conducted 100% in English.  I am awarded with the Pedagogical Formation Certificate which corresponds to PGCE in Turkey. In the frame of this certificate program, I took teaching-related master-level courses such as Psychology of Education, Special Teaching Methods etc. from Yildiz Technical University and I worked in a secondary school as an intern/apprentice Mathematics teacher. Experience in Teaching and Education Counselling I started tutoring to high school students during the undergraduate years. I had students from different levels and prepared them for the university entrance exams. I had been an intern teacher in a high school in Istanbul in the frame of the teacher training program in Turkey, which is awarded with “The Pedagogical Formation Certificate” after completing the necessary duties. As an intern teacher, I gained experience in teaching, exam-invigilating and marking. Furthermore, I participated in a volunteering project run by a trustable charity in Turkey. I worked as Mathematics Teacher voluntarily for Year 8 students in Summer 2016. This was the official summer break time in Turkiye and I helped the students to review the topics of the former semester and make preparations for the upcoming semester. My interest in teaching stimulated me to have role as teaching assistant for undergraduate students while I was a Master of Science student. As part of this, I had to liaise with the professors/lecturers; with their guidance I was doing regular problem session hours; giving a brief summary of the lectures and working together with undergraduate students to solve problems, which has improved my mathematical reasoning and enhanced my capability to perceive a subject deeply and convey it briefly to other students. In the frame of the exchange program “Erasmus+ Mobility Programme”; I have worked as an intern education consultant in the UK in 2018 for eight months. I have been living in the UK for three years and I have been working with UK-based students since then. I have been tutoring to students from different age groups and who are following different curriculums. I participate in trainings and seminars to update myself with the latest teaching trends.
